<p>This resource is meant for students who are preparing for the written GCSE exam (90 words), which is in both the foundation and higher tiers of the examination. The vocabulary, grammar and style used are more appropriate for students in need of support, aiming for a 5 or 6 grade in the writing, although some of the language structures present can lead to higher grades.</p> <p>You will find ten titles (AQA past papers from 2018 to 2021 and specimens) and the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Starter sentences for each bullet point (underlined): the students can reuse them to write their own answers with different options to end the sentence (each option given is separated with a slash); the last options at the bottom (starred) are more complex, showing higher register for those students who wish to stretch themselves.</p> </li> <li> <p>three written model answers for each title and the space for the students to write their own using the help and support provided. These are sometimes longer than 90 words, to show as much variety as possible.<br /> These resources are editable (word format) and can used electronically or printed-off, in class, for homework or as an independent study tool, as a whole pack or each title individually, in the following ways:</p> </li> <li> <p>to show model answers before a written assessment/ mock paper,</p> </li> <li> <p>to provide support and guidelines to students struggling to form their answers on their own,</p> </li> <li> <p>to start a discussion on the good features of these answers and how these could be improved<br /> (for example, ask students to identify and underline in different colours examples of connectives/ past tense/future tense/ opinions/ intensifiers, etc. to reuse in their own answers),</p> </li> <li> <p>as a revision tool before the GCSE exam,</p> </li> <li> <p>as a translation tool (French into English)</p> </li> </ul>
