<p>A resource to begin the process of working with lines in art, drawing and painting. Aimed at P1/KS1 level, it uses a negotiated drawing activity to begin the lesson and looks at line drawings of well known artists to help develop their looking skills and taking this forward to using line in their own drawings.</p>

<p>In this activity the children will focus on drawing lines but repeating these lines within a shape. Begin by talking about the way that a tractor leaves lines on the land. Photographs of such lines could be downloaded and printed. Focus on the work of David Hockney especially his landscape painting where he uses bold lines to separate areas into fields.</p>
