Comparing capacity

(0)

Differentiated worksheets requiring the children to read the measurements and then to compare the capacities. Using the measuring jugs and cylinders.

LA- Using the same scale of adding on each time. Up to 50ml.
MA- Using the same scale for the measuring jugs, and the same scale for the cylinders up to 1litre.
HA-Using a range of different scales. The children are required to work out each scale and each measurement before comparing, some measuring more than 1 litre.

I have used these sheets on my second day of teaching capacity. On the first day, we practically measured before completing differentiated worksheets. On the second day I had different amounts of liquid set up, using different scales. I asked the children which had more in before we measured. Then once we measured we discussed why it might look different depending on the beaker and the scale. Then the children were set off to complete these worksheets.
