Match up the sign to the signified Where does this symbolic code appear in the video? – Does it appear alongside other symbols? What’s happening in the ‘story’? How does the symbol move the story along? How does it work together with other symbols alongside it to form a semantic code? How does it convey Monae’s MESSAGE to her audience? (Intentional Representation – What is being INTENTIONALLY REPRESENTED?)
