A week’s worth of resources consisting of a PowerPoint and worksheets to teach a Upper KS2 class all about Area, Perimeter and Volume, with Minecraft as the theme as the pupils will be working for “Steve’s Swimming Pools”. The resources point the teacher towards using Minecraft Edu to help teach the lessons with the teacher being able to use as much or as little of Minecraft as they like. The final lesson is for children to show communication, collaboration and originality in building a range of swimming pools with different area, perimeter and volume!

In this unit you will be making a Museum all about yourself! This museum will be a true representation of you, what can you build that will show off your character? You will tour different museums around the world to find inspiration for different exhibits and design ideas for both the interior and exterior of your building. You will become an architect and plan out your building, by creating a birds eye annotated drawing and if you are feeling up to the challenge you can use isometric paper to draw out your design ideas! To help you build quicker and more efficiently you will learn some different commands that should speed up the build and then finally once you are complete you can open the doors to your museum and invite your friends to take a tour.

In this unit you will be making an action game based on the Museum Heist game from the Minecraft education website. In lesson 1 you will play Museum Heist with the aim of recovering a missing painting. In lesson 2 you will discuss Museum Heist and work out how the game creator made this particular game. Working with a partner you will then create your own NPC adventure game. In lessons 3 & 4 you will build your world from your design and reacquaint yourself with the commands you used when you made your museum of me. Finally in lesson 5 you will invite your friends into your world to play and then evaluate your game
