Optical Art - KS3 Art Scheme of Work

The scheme of work for KS3 students centered on the Op Art movement of the 1960s involves creating optical illusions to enhance various art skills. Students will explore colour application, focusing on neat blending, careful block colouring, and understanding colour theory. They will develop their composition skills and learn tonal shading techniques, including the use of highlights, midtones, and shadows to create depth. Understanding vanishing points will help them add perspective to their work. Additionally, students will improve their general drawing skills by practicing neat and controlled lines and proper pencil holding. Throughout the course, creativity and imagination will be encouraged, allowing students to experiment and innovate within the framework of Op Art.
