Lessons 6-12 of the AQA R.E GCSE Topic Religion, Peace and Conflict

This is a bundle of lessons 6-12 of the Religious Education AQA GCSE Topic Religion, Peace and Conflict (lessons 1-5 can be found on my store.) In the bundle you’ll find- A sheet of religious quotes centered around religion and war. Lesson 6: Nuclear war A 1 hour power point that looks at the pros/cons/religious views of nuclear war. You’ll find plenty of tasks, information, a youtube video link, a 12 mark question, 12 mark question scaffold, 12 mark question marksheet (either for your use of peer marking) and a 12 mark question mock answer (can be used for exam practice and homework feedback). Lesson 7: The Just War Theory A 1 hour power point that analyses the Just War Theory. You’ll find information, a variety of tasks centred around religious views and a youtube link that explains the Just War Theory. Lesson 8: Holy War. A 1 hour power point that looks at religious views on holy war. You’ll find information, tasks, videos and exam style questions for practice. Lesson 9: Religion and belief as a cause of Violence. You’ll find a 1 hour power point that looks at whether or not religion and belief is a cause of war and violence. You’ll find information, a work sheet and a variety of tasks centred around religious views and 12 mark question practice. Lesson 10: Pacifism A one hour power point centred around ideas of pacifism. You’ll find a work sheet, video links, a variety of tasks and exam practice questions. lesson 11: Religion and Peacekeeping. A one hour power point that focuses on religion and keeping the peace. You’ll find religious views, examples of peacekeepers, a variety of tasks and information. lesson 12 (computer lesson): Religion and Responses to Victims of War. An independent computer research lesson that gets the students to research and analyse religious responses to the victims of war by looking at the various religious charities and what they do to help those victims. I get students to stick in the religious quotes sheet at the front of their books, and then get them to refer back to it when we analyse religious views. This should (hopefully) help them memorise quotes so that they can use them in the exam.

Lessons 1-5 Of the AQA GCSE Religion, Peace and Conflict SOW

This bundle contains the first 5 lessons of the AQA Religious Education GCSE topic of ‘Religion, Peace and Conflict.’ The resources are- Lesson 1: Peace and Justice You’ll find a power point that lasts 1 hour (if not over), on peace and justice. It will get the students to explore the meaning of those key words, as well as their own feelings on them. It also gets the students to analyse religious quotes and beliefs on peace and justice. Lesson 2: Forgiveness and Reconciliation. This lesson explores what we mean by forgiveness and reconciliation. It contains a power point that lasts 1 hour (if not over) that analyses those key words, as well as the religious views on them. It also contains two youtube links to examples of forgiveness and reconciliation and an exam question scaffold sheet. Lesson 3: Violence and Violent protest. This lesson contains a 1 hour power point on violence and violent protest. The lesson is structured around a 12 mark exam question, with each task getting them to focus on different aspects of the question to help them understand 12 markers. Lesson 4: Terrorism. This lesson contains a 1 hour power point that focuses on terrorism. The lesson firstly gets the students to address any misconceptions about what a terrorist looks like. It then focuses on religious views towards terrorism and violence with a worksheet, discussions and scaffolded tasks. Lesson 5: Religion and war. The contains a 1 hour power point on religion and war. It gets the students to look at whether or not religion is a cause of war, or if it is against war and conflict. I get my students to stick in the religious quote sheet that you’ll find for the first lesson. The students then refer back to those quotes when we look at religious views on the different subjects and (hopefully) will memorize them for them exam. (I should have taken out any reference to textbooks, but refer back to those sheets if it does say use a textbook).

Lesson 2 and 3 on Answering 12 Mark Questions for R.E AQA GCSE

This is the second and third lesson (the first one is free! Just look on my profile) on how to answer 12 mark questions in the AQA R.E GCSE. I use these lessons for either out of hours revision sessions or in lesson if we have time once the content is finished. The second lesson get students to analyse how 12 mark questions are marked, to peer mark each other’s working using the assessment criteria, and finally to self-reflect on how they need to improve their 12 mark question answers. The third lesson gets the students to analyse how sources of authority fit into 12 mark questions and why they are important in getting the higher marks. Both lessons also contain print outs for the students to use!
