Independent Living & Money Management

(0)
An extended group project for 16+ students, focusing on independent living skills, budgeting and preparing for post-FE transitions. In small groups, students will be given different ‘incomes’ and circumstances. They must make it through a month without breaking the bank, accounting for both foreseeable and unforeseeable costs. The presentation will take the groups through the month, starting with them having to find a new place to live and facing the costs that go with moving. Students will then have to make shopping lits of household essentials, food, etc. The lesson is fairly open-ended and can be adapted easily for different lesson durations and for learners of varying ages and abilities. Students can use the attached budgeting sheets to keep track of their balance.
