SEN Provision Monitoring System

This is a three tiered system I introduced when leading a learning support team. It is a way of holding TAs/LSAs to account for the progress they make with their interventions with individuals and groups.

Tier 1 sets out the context of the class/group the TA will be working with
Tier 2 is a collaborative document the TA completes in consultation with the class teacher to pinpoint the support
Tier 3 is an outcomes document recording both qualitative and quantitive impact over time

These documents were used as part of QA for Learning Support and to inform performance management and enable TAs to build their own professional portfolios.

The system was praised by both OFSTED and MAT.

These I made for students to listen to on their phones/devices which has built in pauses for students to respond to questions. My students found it useful when surrounded with their revision notes as a checking mechanism for knowledge they were trying to memorise. Can be added to school websites, wikis, as a youtube video or as a simple music track.

Active Reading for Literacy

I've developed these really useful booklets for students to engage with actively in tutor/registration time. In my school we used this to replace simple guided reading with something slightly more activity based as well as general reading practice. Some are branded which can obviously be altered to fit your school context. The activities relate to year group themes so tie in nicely to overall school priorities.

How to move from Passive to Active Learning

This is a CPD resource aimed at moves to more active learning in lessons. It assumes that teachers cannot simply write new schemes of learning every year, but what they can do is make exciting tweaks to certain areas of their lessons to inject the right pitch and pace to support progress. This comes with a guide on how to implant activities into existing learning so that areas of content are more engaging for pupils. It also comes with an informal coaching style lesson observation and exemplar.

Quality Assurance pyramid - Lesson Observation and Assessment

This resource is for School leaders. It is a simple pyramid to inform quality assurance of both lesson observation and formal assessment across a school. It can be adapted to fit your school's procedures/context and is a useful way of mapping lesson quality alongside formal assessment data.

This power point provides in depth templates for revision on the AS module topic or Voting Systems. It’s a good way for Students to condense their notes and break down what can be quite a complicated topic.

I was asked to produce a SOL for the Medicine course for OCR/AQA/EDEXCEL. This is useful for any teacher or leader who is required to have set SOL. It is also useful to give to a fill in teacher or non specialist who is asked to teach this at short notice. It has in it differentiation and extension work. It links well with all sorts of activities.

This is a handy display tool for ensuring students write the date, title and underline and can be used as part of any presentation policy. The teacher can simply refer to DTU by chirping, rather than having to go through the policy time and time again.

Progress/Attainment 8 Wheel

This is a useful tool for tracking student progress using the new Progress 8 attainment outcomes. It tracks a pupil from KS2 through to completion of KS4 and could be used by teacher, students and parents to gauge where they are at on their progress journey. The wheel is aspirational and easy to use visually. This has been praised by other SLT. You can replace our logo with your own in the middle.

WW1, events, Great War This is a great fun activity which gets students learning about the Xmas day truce. Involves some keen reprographics and rewards, but gets even the most challenging year 9 group engaged. You might wish to play the 2014 Sainsbury's Xmas advert as a starter/plenary.
