<p>Are you teaching the Holocaust from home or in class?</p> <p>This pack introduces the class to The Holocaust explaining what it was and why it happened. It includes key vocabulary and fully adaptable sheets as well as a PowerPoint and thinking activities aimed at KS2. I used it for Year 5 and the class loved it, the questions kept flying in and the children were fully engaged and really enjoyed the thinking activities.</p> <p>There is a comprehension sheet that relates to the PowerPoint to make sure the children fully understand what has been taught.</p> <p>There is a brief introduction to Anne Frank and who she was which is useful to introduce the next lesson to be linked for English lessons where they will start reading The Diary of Anne Frank.</p>

<p>Three questions for students to revise and practice:</p> <p>1.On what assumptions was the Schlieffen Plan based?<br /> 2. What is ‘No Man’s Land’?<br /> 3. What methods did Goebbels use between 1929 and 1932 to ensure that Nazi ideas were brought to the attention of the German people?</p> <p>Students need to read through the power points, revise topics already answered in class and answer the questions at the end of the power point.<br /> The third question is for students to answer with open books and they need to follow the PEEL technique.</p> <p>I have also included the mark scheme for answers and teacher help which can also be offered to students.</p> <p>I will be updating this resource as and when I have taught the lessons.</p>

<p>I have created this PowerPoint that revises what Year 5 already know about World War II and The Holocaust linking to Anne Frank explaining why they link together.</p> <p>There is also a webquest activity with a marking guide. It encourages the class to do some research abouot this topic and for them to make their own presentation to send back to me using resources on the internet they have found. As well as making a Power Point presentation for History they are required to make a video of themselves presenting their presentation.</p> <p>The class are really enjoying doing this as they get to use technology and demonstrate their research and spoken skills as well as finding the subject really interesting.</p> <p>Because of being at home and elearning during this quarantine period the class are able to do virtual tours of museums and explore all areas of this topic.</p> <p>On the webquest activity sheet there is also a list of possible websites they can use in order to help Year 5 conduct their research.</p> <p>This resource could also be used for all of KS2 and lower KS3</p>
