"An Unexpected Guest At Christmas" Narrative Writing based on the John Lewis Advert (yr5)

Our festive week long resource “An unexpected guest at Christmas” is based on the beloved John Lewis Christmas advert to help infuse learning with the magic and charm of the holiday season. It is designed to engage and inspire learners in writing their own Christmas narratives while developing essential language skills, with a focus on alliteration, subordinate clauses, and descriptive vocabulary.

It includes a five-day PowerPoint presentation that helps to encourage learners to explore their imagination while incorporating thoughts and feelings into their writing - creating memorable descriptions to capture the holiday spirit. All resources needed are included, such as the story board, planning sheet, and border paper etc. It also includes a separate PowerPoint dedicated to enhancing learners sentence structure using colourful semantics. This PowerPoint can be used with a separate group, as an additional intervention, or integrated into the whole class lesson. With model answers provided, teachers can save time while still providing valuable guidance to their learners.
