This PowerPoint takes students through a detailed analysis of the poem. It is ideally suited to Year 9/10 classes and is one of the first poems I teach to new classes at the beginning of the year
as it introduced them to the terms Free Verse: Personnification: Oxymoron: Onomatopoeia: Enjambement: Alliteration: Imagery: Pace andTempo. The PowerPoint also has a homework task, an oral exercise and a writing task at the end of the presentation. Please note, this presentation is based on the extract of the poem used in the AQA GCSE Poetry Anthology from the late 1990’s so is not a full version of the poem.
