A general introduction to Islam and the 5 pillars

Key stage 3 RE - a good introduction to Islam. The lesson begins with a linking activity which enables students to write in the first oval what they know already about the religion, then fill in the second oval as a review task at the end of the lesson.

The lesson uses clips and key questions for students to make notes on the basics about Islam. Later on the presentation, it moves onto the 5 pillars of Islam and enables a learning from religion activity for students to try and relate some of the principles of Islam in a non-religious way.

This could be adapted to work over 2 lessons.
