Moving to a new school can be both exciting and challenging for Year 7/8 students. This booklet is designed to help ease that transition by focusing on foundational English skills in reading, writing, talking, and listening. It provides a comprehensive approach that allows students to assess and develop their abilities through engaging activities and discussions.

By focusing on key foundational skills and providing a range of assessment opportunities, interactive activities, and additional support for SEN pupils, it ensures that every student can confidently navigate their new academic environment.

To keep students engaged, the booklet features a variety of interactive activities, such as:

• Group tasks: fostering teamwork and leadership.
• Creative tasks: generating ideas, brainstorming and presenting information in creative formats.
• ICT tasks: encouraging students to use the computer to present information in an engaging way.
