A Study of Effective Methods for Enhancing English Public Speaking Ability of College Students

For college students, whether they are native English speakers or not, public English speaking skills are essential. English public speaking is not only closely related to school requirements, but also plays an important role in promoting one’s future career development. However, there are some students who are unable to successfully conduct English public speaking and do not well understand and master some effective speech skills. In response to this practical problem, the presentation lists a number of English public speaking skills for both the subjective level of individuals and the objective level of teams. It mainly includes knowing the audiences, selecting the appropriate topic, establishing the connection with the audiences, making the content concise and convincing, using the focus group discussion learning model, conducting peer evaluation and feedback, doing corresponding adjustments.
