Get all students to stand up with their card.
An environmental change happens, and if they are not suitable for the environment they die and, once they have explained why they are dead, sit down.
Eventually there is one (or perhaps two) creatures still alive. Get them to explain why they are alive.
The original was made by a coursemate, but I have extended it and included some lovely pictures of capybaras.
All cards have the same animal on to represent this as variations within a species leaving only members of the species with desired characteristics remaining. It doesn't need to be capybaras; they were only chosen as I didn't expect my students to be familiar with them.

I love the idea but am confused by the cards - they ALL have capybara pictures on them? I feel it would be better for the class to see the animals reflected by the stats on the card and start associating adaptations and effects of environmental change with specific examples, so I will change the cards accordingly. But thank you for the great idea.
