I recently developed and led a full-day AI-focused INSET at my school (British School of Gran Canaria). It involved a lot of planning, so I thought I’d share the resources for others in a similar position or for teachers who want to learn about AI on their own.
This session was designed to introduce AI concepts and applications to all school stakeholders, including teaching staff, administration, finance, and support teams. However, the tasks and materials can also be used independently by teachers looking to deepen their understanding of AI.
The day’s objectives were to:
- Provide time for staff reflection on current practices and challenges
- Facilitate collaborative problem-solving across departments
- Introduce AI tools relevant to identified challenges
The package includes:
- Worksheets.
- A 24-page information booklet on AI in education with video explanations.
- A custom-designed GPT that can guide staff through the INSET day in any language.
The day is structured to essentially run itself, allowing schools to implement the training without needing extensive preparation or expertise. However, if you’re an individual teacher, you can easily work through the materials at your own pace.
To run the INSET or use the materials on your own, you will only need to:
- Decide the timings.
- Print and share electronic copies of the resources.
- Create a Padlet (very simple to create).
- Decide the winners (if applicable).

This is an incredible resource—simple and thorough. Staff said it was the best CPD training they had. It’s essential for every school to be running something like this at the moment.
