Learning Objectives:

1. To understand the different Christian attitudes towards punishment.
2. To understand the reasons for punishment.
3. To know the different types of punishment in the UK.
4. Develop an opinion on the aims and forms of punishment.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Pupils will attempt to understand key words regarding the aims of punishment. The teacher will rectify any misunderstanding or gaps in knowledge.
2. Discussion will help assess the class’ understanding of reasons to punish as well as the UK’s forms of punishment.
3. Pupils will provide understanding of what a crime is. Through peer assessment, the crimes will be prescribed appropriate punishments according to the pupils understanding of Christian views and their own opinion.
