This download contains a full lesson which encourages students to consider what the literary canon is and to deconstruct the values which sit behind it. Pupils then consider what makes a text valuable and construct their own canons. I have used as part of the AQA English Literature course (new spec) with my Y12s and Y13s however I have also used for my more able Y11s who are pushing for Grades 8-9 in the new AQA GCSE.

A great idea, and useful discussion prompts, but it would be super helpful to have a list of the names of the "canon" included on the Card Slide, as even though I have a Masters in Literature, I am not certain I know them all just by their picture.
