A basic area skills worksheet on regular shapes (though some irregular shapes in mid-high ability worksheets). This set is for early lessons in area and goes through using given dimensions as well as measuring the shapes to find the dimensions required to find the area.
This worksheet has been differentiated into 3 levels - 1 dot = low ability, 2 dots = middle ability, 3 dots = high ability.
The low ability worksheet has basic activities using unit blocks, whole numbers and has a grid behind some shapes to help with the measuring process. The middle-high ability worksheets expect students to be able to measure and understand dimensions without any help, as well as understand how to use millimetres and centimetres together and multiply decimal numbers.
Each worksheet comes with answers.
This worksheet corresponds with a lesson sequence on area and perimeter with lesson slides and worksheets for each lesson.

Also included is a lesson on measurement basics with a differentiated worksheet, and a practical lesson with a worksheet. This lesson sequence aims to move progressively through the skills of perimeter, then area, starting with basic rectangles, then composite rectilinear shapes, then word problems. The supplementary lessons are to revise and consolidate skills. The worksheets are differentiated: 1 dot = lower ability 2 dots = middle ability 3 dots = higher ability This may look different for each worksheet - it could mean more complex questions, or just more difficult numbers. Everything is editable, so use it as you see fit!
