Welcome to Lesson 1 of the Jon Burgerman scheme, designed to teach older primary and younger secondary-aged children about the British designer Jon Burgerman.

This introductory lesson can serve as the starting point for a unit of work on the artist or as a standalone session.

The PowerPoint includes:

• Printable resource sheets featuring examples of the artist’s work, key facts about him, a literacy focus on key works, and design ideas for presenting this information.
• A starter activity where children will watch a video about the artist.
• A step-by-step guide on how to design their research page with written and visual instructions.
• A plenary session requiring a 60-second timer, reinforcing learning and focusing on the literacy aspects of the lesson.

Additionally, we’ve included dyslexic-friendly fonts and background colours to ensure everyone feels included and empowered to participate.
