A fully resourced, detailed and editable Cold War lesson all about the development and implementation of the Atomic Bomb. Includes a detailed, differentiated PowerPoint and accompanying worksheets. The images shown are just a few indicators of what’s in the pack, there is more content.
The lesson includes a wide variety of activities, clips, source and extended writing tasks, and by the end of the lesson students will be able to evaluate the effects of the bombings using specific details from sources as evidence.
Students will delve into reasons why America decided to use nuclear weapons and extract key details from sources to explain how the cold war could have turned hot, before evaluating sources for an extended literacy / exam style question at the end.
Everything is editable, suited best to UKS3 (or good for a GCSE revision lesson) and easy to pick up and run with.
