Autobiography - analysis and writing unit of work

A series of lessons for 11-14 year olds looking at the writing of autobiography. Six weeks’ worth of lessons in total.

A diverse and inclusive series of extracts, including from Nelson Mandela, Gordon Ramsay, Katherine Johnson, Roald Dahl, Ian Wright and others, help to illustrate the power of autobiographical writing. Pupils’ comprehension skills are tested in a series of fun activities that accommodate many different learning styles.

Pupils are also encouraged to express themselves through a series of dynamic and carefully-scaffolded lessons that ensure they are able to define and convey their beliefs, emotions and relationships to others.

This is an empathetic, dynamic, academically-rigorous and fun scheme of work that has been enjoyed by many pupils.
