One player chooses to go from top to bottom and the other player goes across. They will need a different colour pen/pencil each to colour in their hexagons.
The aim of the game is to create an unbroken line of hexagons from either top to bottom or across. Players take it in turns to choose a letterand say a food or drink in French that begins with that letter. If they are able to do so/give a correct answer, they colour in that hexagon with their colour and write the word in the box ‘les mots utilisés’. Each word can only be used once. The first player to create their unbroken line of hexagons wins. They don’t have to go in order, they can pick random hexagons all over the board if they want to.
This is a game of strategy as well as vocabulary recall as the players must try to block off their opponent whilst trying to be the first to create their line.
There are also a set of help cards. If you choose to give them a set, players place the pile of cards face down. If a player is stuck or can’t think of a word, they can turn over the top card but must miss a go. They can use their card for their next go, but only if that letter is available or the word hasn’t already been used.
This game is useful for food and drink recall and revision.
