This is a sequence (approximately 2 weeks worth of planning) based around Anthony Browne’s Changes. It includes differentiation to support less able writers.
It can be used at any point but it particularly useful at the end of the year when Year 2s are moving onto a new class or school.
The main learning points are:
Going through changes (linked to PSHE)
Exploring new vocabulary from the text.
Writing list sentences or compound sentences (some prior reaching is required).
Exploring synonyms for ‘changed’.
Water colour illustrations (linked to Art)
Innovating the story to make it about a change the children are facing.
