A 5-lesson writing unit inspired by ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. In this unit, pupils will write a setting description of The Chocolate Room and then proceed to use the skills learnt to write a setting description of a room created from their own imagination fit for Mr Wonka’s factory!
PACK FOLLOWS THE FORMAT:

Monday - Look at grammatical features of a setting description and identify them in a model text

Tuesday - Plan the setting description

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - a short grammar starter, a review of the model text, a shared write using the provided WAGOLL, independent writing and editing and improving using the CUPS method

Monday - children design a room fit for Mr Wonka’s factory from their imagination

Tuesday & Wednesday - a short grammar starter, a review of the model text, a shared write using the provided WAGOLL, independent writing and editing and improving using the CUPS method

Thursday & Friday - writing up their edited descriptions in a provided writing frame to create a wonderful class display!
