Colour and Pattern Grid Activity EYFS KS1

This activity helps children develop pattern recognition, colour matching, and counting skills while encouraging fine motor development.
It includes a 5x5 blank grid alongside pre-designed pattern templates for children to copy by colouring in or positioning colour objects.
Pages 1-10 feature different patterns that children can replicate using coloured pens, crayons, blocks, or small squares of gummed paper.
Page 11 introduces a colour word challenge, where children read the colour names and fill in the grid accordingly.
The activity supports early mathematical thinking by reinforcing repetition, symmetry, and sequencing.
Laminate the sheets and place them in the Number Corner for continuous use with coloured blocks or dry wipe makers.
For extension activities, children can play a Roll & Colour game to create random patterns based on dice rolls.
