Counting Change

This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standards 2.N.4.1 and 2.N.4.2, in which students will be able to count change up to a dollar and use coins to represent a given price. Use the sets of coins on the sheet to teach your lesson. Count the coins with your class and encourage active participation. In the first activity, students will match cards with coins correctly with a card with a given amount. During the second activity, students will draw cards with items and a price. Using printable coins, they will “buy” items. These two activities can be used as either classwide or center activities. A written assessment has also been provided.
