Used with my HAs in a Year 5/6 class.
We went through examples of how to use dashes one at a time, with groups coming up with their own example after each one. I had a follow up worksheet with a set of random story starter pictures. They had to choose a picture and write a sentence using each of the dash styles for that picture. This gathered my afl for individual pupils.

I used your resource as a scaffold to build my own. (I read the negative statement left and thought you needed to know that we're not all like this, though I realise it was left 2 years ago). Thanks for providing an excellent scaffold for a dashes and hyphens review for Year 6. My children loved the general mix of scenarios and this really did help to push their brains in the understanding of the difference between a dash and a hyphen after initial teaching. Thank you for the resource.

Poor choice of font makes this resource really difficult to read. Not sure about deliberately mixing up the teaching of dashes and hyphens. Surely teach them separately because they have two completely separate uses. Slides could also be dyslexia friendly.

Thanks for your feedback - I was a student teacher at the time so know quite a bit more about the complexities of each and would teach it slightly differently now. The information on the slides however, is not inaccurate so could still be of use to contribute to a larger teaching unit? As for your other comments - I would say if you have specific requirements for your slides have you considered making your own? I accept your comments, but considering all the resources I've ever uploaded I have done for free and to help other teachers out I think your negativity is misplaced here. Hey ho! Always nice to feel the 'love' on a Sunday night before work!
