A lesson on likes and dislikes based on Dynamo 1, Module 1, Unit 3 (Tu aimes ça?).
STARTER: students write down the opinion phrases and translate them into English from memo
LANGUAGE INPUT: the teacher introduces the new vocabulary. Choral repetition and individual repetition is strongly advised to boost retention and practise pronunciation.
TASK 1: students translate four simple sentences from English into French using the new vocab.
TASK 2: students need to decipher a code in order to find out what the sentences are (they all contain an opinion verb and a reason). Then they translate them into English.
TASK 3: listening task containing the new vocab. A transcript is provided for teachers who don’t have access to Active Learn.
MINI-PLENARY: assessment for learning opportunity to check where students are at in terms of vocab retention.
TASK 4: students write a short paragraph in French including different information depending on the level they choose.
PLENARY: assessment for learning opportunity using traffic lights (red, amber, green).
