A lesson on adjectives and gender agreement based on Dynamo 1, Module 1, Unit 4 (Tu es comment?). Each task includes an extension task to cater for the more able students.
STARTER: students copy down a series of adjectives (masculine and feminine) and need to figure out what the difference is between them.
LANGUAGE INPUT: teacher explains the rule about masculine and feminine and repeats all the adjectives out loud, stressing the differences between masculine and feminine.
TASK 1: reading activity where students need to read some short sentences describing five people using the adjectives they have just learnt.
TASK 2: short translation task from French into English using the vocab previously learnt.
TASK 3: listening task where students fill in the gaps using the adjectives learnt at the start. A transcript is provided for teachers without access to Active Learn.
MINI-PLENARY: assessment for learning opportunity to check understanding so far.
TASK 4: writing task linked to the outcome of the mini-plenary.
PLENARY: assessment for learning opportunity using red, amber, green emojis.
