This resource has been designed to practice:
• Applying the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
• Expanding linear expressions.
• Expanding single brackets.
• Simplifying expressions.
• Collecting like terms.

✽ Directions:
Students simplify the “apple” cards and match them with their equivalent “tree” card.
This resource can be used in several different ways:

1. Print, cut out and laminate the sets of apple and tree cards and use with your students as a matching activity.
2. Print a set of apple and tree worksheets for each student and have them cut and stick matching pairs into their books.
3. Use the single sheet of 30 questions as a print and go worksheet or homework task.

✦ Notes:
All answers are included, so you can easily mark students work.
These questions should take around an hour for students to complete.

✷ Suggestions:
Create a classroom display with the matching apples and trees. Students could colour matching pairs in the same colour.
