Edexcel English Language Paper 1 lesson that looks at Q3 and in particular sentences and how they can impact on a reader. We analyse an extract and look at how the writer has used short sentences and longer, descriptive sentences to build up a sense of a terrifying character. The lesson tries to move students away from generic, shallow answers like ‘it makes it interesting for the reader’ to more specific, in-depth analysis of sentences.
