This structured eight lesson literacy plan moves children from looking at the way speech is used in stories to how it forms the basis of play scripts.
They will examine the difference in the structure and punctuation of dialogue used in different kinds of writing, learning how to make comparisons, and use what they have learnt to create their own plays.
They will then work in groups to consider how the dialogue could be read/performed to best effect.
Each lesson includes a learning objective, success criteria, a detailed description of teaching input and whole class activity, a detailed description of the individual/partner/group work and a plenary.
