Full SOW for accent and dialect - this would usually take 6-8 weeks, taught 3 hours a week, with assessment time included. Covers all skills and terminology required for students. There is a homework booklet attached too and we usually get students to complete article review homework tasks as additional homework tasks to allow them to recognise the style of writing that they need to adopt for opinion articles (the articles themselves aren’t included but the review sheet is). This SOW covers case studies on a range of accents/dialects such as geordie, Yorkshire, Scottish dialects, Standard English. There are scaffolds to help to support students with writing in all 3 question styles and a range of exemplars to exemplify the appropriate writing style too.
There are a range of video clips to help students to recognise the different dialects and the way they sound.
