When writing academic texts, it is important that students always consider the function of the writing. This requires them to have a good understanding of the essay question, as well as the particular type of essay they are expected to produce.
This is an interactive resource which outlines the various essay types and gives students the opportunity to practice identifying them and practice writing using the different essay types.
This resource was designed for Foundation Year English as a Second Language students, although it could be used by any high school students. It can be used as a stand-alone self-study resource or to supplement classroom teaching.
