Essay Vocabulary

I am trying to teach some explicit phrases to incorporate into an essay and so this list is a great resource. Pupils can choose 3 phrases from each column that they then plan to include in an essay so that they build up a resource of phrases they can then fall back on in exams.

This resource contains some useful terms that pupils should use to create essay responses to enquiry questions. Having the terms collected together in one place could provide a useful starting point for teachers looking to build pupils' understanding of how to improve their Historical Writing. However the resource would benefit from being broken down into less of a list format which may put lower ability pupils off.
