Express one quantity as a fraction of another – WABOLL vs WAGOLL
(What a bad one looks like vs What a good one looks like).

Contains;
1. 10 questions on rally coach. These vary in ability and include a number of questions where pupils will have to change one unit to make both units of measure the same before expressing one quantity as a fraction of another.
2.Cross Curricular link encourages literacy with the pupils, pupils speaking to each other and explaining to how solve problems (this is a massive focus in our school).
3. 10 solutions provided.
4. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly.
5. Printable version – white version instead of yellow to save on ink.
6. WABOLL vs WAGOLL – question for pupils to demonstrate they can use their knowledge from the lesson to address new curriculum style questions around reasoning. Pupils are given a question and three possible answers. They must choose the answer they believe to be correct and explain why.

Printing Tip: This resource has been designed to display on board or print on A4. If you wish to print select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4.

Idea behind task;
To develop pupil’s mathematical discussions and thinking/reasoning skills. To encourage pupils to think about what they are writing down in the exam. By speaking to their partner and getting the partner to write down what they are thinking, it means it must make sense. Good practice for them in the exam to ensure they show full working out and to check their answer makes sense. To encourage mathematical discussion within the classroom.
