This Travel Unit includes five 1-hour lessons intended to give students contextual and meaningful practice with common travel experiences. All lessons are provide detailed vocabulary lists followed by authentic contextual activities to give students real-world practice with common travel experiences and communication needs. By the end of the Unit, students will feel confident and ready to pick up their passports and go!

How can I use it?:
-to teach new learners about common travel experiences and how to communicate while traveling
-to review with students before a class trip
-use the Unit in sequence, or split up the lesson to complete over the course of a year or term
-as various learning stations or learning centers

Who is it for?:
-Novice High Spanish Students
-Students in Grades 6-12

At the end of the Unit, students will be able to:
Book a train ticket:
-order a train ticket in person or online
-talk about their train travel schedule
-talk about where others would like to go
-talk about what they and others are going to do
-talk about what time they and others are going to do an activity
Book a Hotel Room:
-reserve a room at a hotel
-speak comfortably about cash and credit card numbers/information
-give dates and other relevant information
Negotiate a Taxi:
-barter for a lower price
-explain where they need to go
Reserve a Room at a Hotel
-speak comfortably about cash and credit card numbers/information
-give dates and other relevant information
Describe a Traditional Dish:
-describe a dish they like and their opinion of it
-compare dishes and talk about what dishes taste like
Use a Map:
-ask for directions
-follow directions
-give directions

-40 total pages of content

-3 communicative activities to get students talking about train travel
