Resources for at least 2 lessons on Florence Nightingale vocabulary. The first is to support alphabetical ordering. The children are presented with a set of words and a template to put the words into alphabetical ordering. There are 3 levels of difficulty and each level includes a larger set of the words to be physically moved around into the right order, then a template for the words to be copied up into once the order is correct. Dictionaries or alphabets can be given to support children if needed. Each word can be ticked off from the list above as it is written in. The next activity requires the children to read words and definitions and match them up. As well as supporting history knowledge this will be great for extending the children's vocabulary in line with the new reading National Curriculum requirements and his heavy emphasis on words and meanings.
