FREE Lesson 1 of GCSE Speaking and Listening Unit

This is the first lesson of a unit designed to complete the speaking and listening component for GCSE students in around 6 to 8 lessons. The unit also covers persuasive writing skills needed for the English Language exam and was additionally used as a pre-reading exercise for Animal Farm. However, the unit can easily be adapted to remove the links to this text and stands as a discrete unit in its own right.

This first lesson looks at the qualities we would expect to see in successful societies and political leaders. There is an analysis task to complete on a video excerpt of President Obama’s public speaking, which is also included here.
