Full unit of work (14 detailed and differentiated lesson plans) for teaching stone age-iron age Britain, including curriculum overview to support cross-curricular planning ideas, a powerpoint to support teaching and a large bulk of resources to support a wide range of activities (writing, food technology, art, DT, science etc) plus some display resources. A must for anyone teaching this for the first time on the new curriculum and for anyone who is looking to save time and to not have to make own resources from scratch! Some resources provided are linked to the popular animated film 'The Croods' which is based on a family living in stone age Britain, I used these in litracy. showing them a short clip from the film (e.g clip of a certain character) and then using this to stimulate creative/descriptive writing in a fun way. There are also lessons linking to science learning objectives to help you cover the 'rocks and soils' unit. As a taster to the planning, the first lesson includes using a mystery box to which children pull images from and discuss ideas about what they are going to be learning about. Another practical lesson provides a carousel of activities which will enable the children to experience what stone age life would be like. In another activity, children learn about tools and are encouraged to work in teams to design and build a tool for a purpose using only resources found in their outdoor school environment! (Brilliant if you have access to a forest school area). Something like this would have been great when I was looking fir ideas but ended up having to make many myself. Please use, reuse and teach on! :)
