How to use SCRATCH - The basics

Intended to be an A5 booklet, this resource is a step-by-step guide with pictures on the basics of using Microsoft PowerPoint.

Contents examples:

• Open SCRATCH
• save projects and open saved projects
• creating and finding sprites and stages
• changes sprite names and costumes
• what each area of SCRATCH can be used for
• creating variables
• moving code
• making speech flow
• adding sound to the projects
• printscreen your work

It can be difficult when teaching ICT to ensure all the students know how to do these -what we would call- simple tasks. With this booklet you can show them once together and then promote their independent learning through the use of this booklet.

I had also attached an extra sheet which can be added to the back of the booklet - should you wish - to encourage students to be independent before they approach the teaching staff.
