Ingredients (for 6 fairy cakes)

50g self raising flour
50g margarine
50g caster sugar
1 egg
3/4 tablespoons icing sugar
Juice of half a lemon (optional as water may be used instead)
Sprinkles or sweets to decorate cakes

Cake cases and cake tin

Method

  1. Sieve flour into a mixing bowl
  2. Add the butter/marg, sugar and egg to the flour and beat
  3. Place the mixture into cake cases
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C/160 fan oven
  5. Bake for around 15 minutes until golden
  6. Allow to cool
  7. Mix icing sugar and lemon juice or water to make the icing
  8. Spoon over the top of the cakes and then add sprinkles
