This lesson really needs 100 minutes to work properly so spread it over two lesson if your's are an hour long. Learners will gain a deeper understanding of ionic bonding because they are working it out for themselves using my &'golden rules of ionic bonding&';. It allows them to make mistakes and improve until they are ready to tackle harder examples. It also provides a choice of approach.
