A lesson designed to get students to study one of the campaigns/battles that do not usually get taught in History lessons in much detail. Students choose one of these ‘forgotten campaigns’ and create a presentation on it. The presentation must meet a set criteria – which is then used for peer assessment when the groups come to present. The criteria includes a PEEKA paragraph (of which an example is included) and using the key word flash cards that are included in the PowerPoint that refer to their specific campaign. Any additional research is seen as a bonus and is encouraged.

Also includes a Google Form plenary quiz.

We’ve had lots of success with this lesson and the students really embrace learning about a new topic and presenting to their classmates. The use of a peer criteria check list ensures all students are focussed when their peers are presenting. It can get quite competitive… !

Hope it helps,
