A high-quality resource to support Key Stage 1 Design & Technology. Pupils will design, make and evaluate their own biscuit tin designs using M&S Archive sources as inspiration. Fun, creative activities provide cross-curricula links to speaking and listening and persuasive writing.

This resource includes;

  • a lesson plan and Teacher’s Notes providing guidance for all activities
  • editable PowerPoint classroom slides
  • bespoke short films
  • editable worksheets
  • an image pack

Pupils will look at biscuit tins from the Archive collection and think about how shape, colour and texture have been used in design. They will discuss the qualities of different biscuits and the words we use to describe these qualities. Pupils will design their own biscuit packaging, then evaluate their own work and conduct a peer review identifying elements they like in other’s designs.

The resource also includes a brief introduction to the M&S Archive, explaining the function and purpose of an archive.
