KS2 Literacy 'The Butterfly Lion' by Michael Morpurgo unit of work (21 lessons)

A unit of work (21 lessons) based around the text 'The Butterfly Lion' by Michael Morpurgo. Whole class guided reading and writing focus with high level differentiated questions. Prediction before beginning the book (style of Michael Morpurgo books) and a lot of focused questions whilst reading each chapter that can be suited to target specific individuals / groups of children in your class. A range of fiction and non fiction incidental writing opportunities are planned for each day including diary entries in role, a discussion, argument, letters, playscript, hot-seating, newspaper articles, non-chronological report, recounts, book review and researching South Africa, Malaria and Adonis Blue butterflies. Lessons can be adapted to suit Years 4, 5 and 6.
