Series of lessons based around separating salt, sand and iron fillings.
This includes 4 lessons, with a powerpoint, booklet and teacher plan for each lesson. It is perfect for group work, and discovery learning. I have run it with both a top and bottom set class successfully.
Lesson 1 - Research (easiest with computers, links are included to support this)
Lesson 2 - Method Writing (focusing on evaluation, peer and self assessment)
Lesson 3 - Conduct the experiment (this could be two lessons depending on the class)
