This is a booklet designed for a 7-9 week intervention course for Y7s with particularly weak writing and grammar skills. Everything is centred around football and I found this to be very engaging for the group of boys selected to be part of the programme. It covers several areas of writing such as capital letters and full stops, subject verb agreements, sentence types and variation and apostrophes.
There is a short writing task at the beginning and end, hopefully intended to show the progress they have made throughout the course.
Each week, I consolidated the learning activity with ‘penalty shootouts’, whereby students had to answer a question about the learning correctly to take a penalty either virtually or in real life.
As this group was very vocal, they all chose a real life football team to represent and they had to raise their badge to answer a question. I logged the points they won to keep a tally each week and add an element of competition to the learning.
There is also a student voice feedback sheet to help monitor the impact of the course. If you use and like, please review!

UPDATE 2020 - some of the references in this resource need slightly updating since the players and teams in leagues have changed slightly!
